Cartier Solid 18k Yellow Gold Falcon Bangle

Cartier’s history of marrying the exotic and the glamorous is part of what has made it one of the world’s premier jewelers. Never afraid to take chances, the company’s audacious designs have. often incorporated animalistic motifs into their works in ways that were far from subtle, but all the more stylish for it. The likenesses of panthers and alligators can be found in some of Cartier’s most iconic pieces.

In keeping with the jeweler’s predilection for the animal kingdom’s fiercest hunters, this hand- forged bangle bracelet from the 1960s sees the visage of a falcon molded from 18-karat yellow gold. The eyes are fixed with a pair of brilliant emeralds, while immaculately textured relief work gives form to the feathers. A striking combination of savage and chic, this scarcely produced bangle echoes the style of Elizabeth Taylor, perhaps as she would have walked the red carpet for the premiere of her 1963 epic Cleopatra.
