Believed to be a descendant of the bagues au firmament (or, “rings of the heavens”) popularized by history’s most notorious figure of wealth, Marie Antoinette, this magnificent Navette from the mid-Victorian era is a diamond lover’s delight. Twelve old mine cut diamonds (making for a total of 4.5 carats) circle an ovular head of solid silver. Inside their glittering perimeter, brilliant dark blue guilloché enamel work serves as a backdrop for a stunning center 1.50 carat old mine cut diamond, giving the piece the appearance of an eye in the sky formed by a dazzling constellation of stars. Thought to have been a custom piece for a woman of aristocratic stature, it is a ring as rich and alive with history as it is with opulence.
