Founded one year after Antoine Patek met Adrien Philippe at the 1844 Exposition Nationale des Produits de L’Industrie in Paris (where the latter had just won a bronze medal for inventing the keyless winding system), Patek Philippe immediately set to work manufacturing what would become the world’s most illustrious pocket watches. Their early clientele included Leo Tolstoy, Queen Victoria, and Pope Piux IX. In 1868, the company began work on the very first Swiss wristwatch, and five years later it was delivered to Countess Koscowicz of Hungary. From that point forward, Patek Philippe’s reputation for lovingly crafted, resplendent wearable timepieces was unmatched.  

Produced roughly 130 years after the fateful meeting of the company’s namesake founders, this timepiece from the 1970s features an 18 karat yellow gold honeycomb bracelet that meets the wrist like silken chainmail. The solid gold 25mm square case contains a dial of rich blue lapis, a semi-precious stone mined in Afghanistan long believed to hold protective, purifying properties.
