CHOPARD WHITE GOLD AND DIAMOND DRESS WATCH 5161
The phrase “tasteful decadence” might seem self-contradictory, but there is no better way to describe this vintage Chopard watch from the 1960s.
Produced during an age of glamor best personified by Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Marilyn Monroe, and Camelot, this exquisite timepiece perfectly embodies the seamless blending of elegance and luxury for which Chopard is universally renowned. The entirety of the bezel is smothered in clean white diamonds (eighteen chunky transitional-cut and two baguette-cut, each at 12 and 6), surrounding a dial the color of clouded silver. The bracelet is perfection, an articulated mesh of 18 karat white gold so finely crafted, it almost has the feel of golden fabric on the wrist — expertly harmonizes with the icy opulence of the case, adding to the magnificence of the piece while never vying for attention.
Very few examples of this model were manufactured by Chopard, making it all but impossible to find one six decades later. A timepiece of such singularity and splendor almost seems to have been created for the sole purpose of soliciting awestruck stares of envy and admiration.
